Literature Text

I have walked through the darkness,
Bound in chains by a cruel master,
But was liberated from slavery,
Now I stand before the enemy and his servants,
With swords and banners raised,
I march with my brothers beside me,

I am to fight the enemy,
To bring His pristine light,
To whom live under tyranny,
For Ildren gave me freedom,
We were meant to live without fear,
His will be done,

For the Bringer of Light and His champions,
We’ll fight to the very end,
For the lost, enslaved, and condemned,
We’ll bring them home,

For the Bringer of Light and His champions,
We’ll fight to the very end,
For the lost, enslaved, and condemned,
We will bring liberation,

The enemy mocks me greatly,
Claims I am still his slave,
I feel his power trying to control me,
But now I am with my brothers,
And serving a merciful King,
Who won’t let me be led astray

I am to fight the enemy,
To bring His pristine light,
To whom live under tyranny,
For Ildren gave me freedom,
We were meant to live without fear,
His will be done,

For the Bringer of Light and His champions,
We’ll fight to the very end,
For the lost, enslaved, and condemned,
We’ll bring them home,

For the Bringer of Light and His champion,
We’ll fight to the very end,
For the lost, enslaved, and condemned,
We will bring them liberation,

Death was our inescapable fate,
No hope, no freedom,
But through His champions, we are liberated,
Raise your swords for Ildren and His champions,

Death was our inescapable fate,
No hope, no freedom,
But through His champions, we are liberated,
Raise your swords for Ildren and His champions,

For the Bringer of Light and His champions,
We’ll fight to the very end,
For the lost, enslaved, and condemned,
We’ll bring them home,

For the Bringer of Light and His champion,
We’ll fight to the very end,
For the lost, enslaved, and condemned,
We will call them brothers and sisters,

This is an excerpt from a song that is part of my writing project that I am working along side with :iconsurrendercomics: .

To provide a little background/sneak peak, this hymn is sung in Dretonnia by the troops as they march off into battle against their enemies. The Hymn of Liberation in particular takes the perspective of a man who is was once serving a cruel ruler who treated them lower than dirt, but now he is liberated thanks to Ildren (The Deity Dretonnians worship) and His Champions (The title of the rulers of Dretonnia). Thus the man's desire is to serve Ildren and free those who are suffering like he once was. It is considered to be one of the first hymns to be created and notable used by the army after the creation of Dretonnia.

Now on a allegorical level for those that were interested. Ildren/The Bringer of Light represents God who has given us freedom from sin. His Champions are represented by the kings/saints/etc. who served God throughout the Bible, from the Old to the New Testaments. It is important that this Hymn is focusing on Ildren/God while acknowledging that he is speaking to the world through the people he had chosen.

Originally, this song was inspired by a song called "The Last Stand" by Sabaton. Though while working on it, the tune and whatnot took a form of its own. So I hope you all enjoy this first hymn I have brought to the public. :)
